It is currently difficult to put together complete before-and-after comparisons of the farm, as the way we are working (slowly) takes time. So please consider this part one of many. Here’s where we started:
We arrived at the farm for the very first time on Valentines Day 2021. It was sunset and the winter light was cutting dramatic lines through the mountains. We were staying a few miles away with our friend Frances and tromped through the waist-high grass with her kids in tow.
We stood on a scab of clay, at the top of a mountain left dormant after hurricane Maria. In the time since, we have been working to rebuild the soil.

This month’s newsletter is short and sweet as we prepare for a visit from Southern SARE, who awarded us funding to produce the workshop Steven described in his last piece (Notes from two years without a fridge). Stay tuned for the zine we are creating as part of the workshop. Subscribers to Bueno Compartir will be able to download a digital copy of the zine in next month’s newsletter.
