Puerto Rico is the world’s oldest colony. Utuado is located in the central mountains of Puerto Rico’s largest island, the poorest region in the entire United States. For the last four years we’ve lived in a tent, without running water or electricity, because most of our area (even if housed) also struggles with basic amenities. Our neighbors can’t afford to connect to the municipal waterline, but America’s tax dollars fund atrocities in Gaza and the West Bank, across the African continent, Caribbean, and beyond. The repercussions of settler-colonialism are not a lifestyle choice; please don’t call us sustainable.

The farm focuses on giving free food and plant medicine to the community. That work is made possible through your support for this publication, our workshops, and printed materials like zines.

Alex and I live in a tent, but not in a sexy way. We farm a few acres on the world’s oldest colony. It’s hard but it gives time to think, read, and connect the dots of food education as means of liberation. 🇵🇷Puerto Rico Libre! 🇵🇸Palestina Libre!
